With the rapid advance in IT due to IoT, AI and the need for data processing data quickly and in real-time also came the challenge of managing and making processing efficient and cost-effective. This has led to major companies adopting and migrating products to the Cloud.

Cloud has not just proven to be the best solution available but has also created jobs and opened pathways for developers and IT enthusiasts to add to their credentials skillsets like Cloud Architect, Site Reliability Engineer, Cloud Developer etc.

Why IBM Cloud?

Tech giants like Microsoft, Amazon and IBM offer Cloud services but I am mostly interested in learning and acquiring certification for IBM Cloud. A major reason was that I came across IBM Cloud whilst working as a contractor on behalf of NHS Digital as a DevOps engineer and had to manage the infrastructure and one of the tasks involved analysing and making a comprehensive analysis of the choice made for one of the Kubernetes deployment configuration files before the application would go live. At this time, I was learning about the IBM Cloud and Kubernetes and they seem to fit in perfectly just at the right time. After completing the project, I figured out that it made more sense to acquire a Cloud certification for one of the tech giants and since I was already getting familiar with IBM Cloud, I might as well study and add that to my credentials which will make me a hot prospect for any Cloud-related jobs.

IBM currently offer various training via the IBM Center for Cloud Training which I write on in the next section.

What is IBM Center for Cloud Training

IBM Center for Cloud Training (ICCT) is a training platform that provides curated resources to help you achieve certification in IBM Cloud. High profile companies like UBank, Bitly and ActivTrades utilised IBM Cloud to scale their platforms. Because IBM Cloud also supports over 200 products in their catalogue like VMWare, Kubernetes, OpenShift, RabbitMQ and across different models such as IAAS (Infrastructure as a service), PAAS (Platform as a service) and SAAS (Software as a service), it means that you can acquire and stay up to date with Industry-standard Cloud technologies.

How can IBM Cloud certification help me?

After having decided to pursue my career as a contractor, I have realised that Cloud is the future and many companies are moving to the Cloud. At least 70% of the companies I had worked with in the past already use the Cloud as their deployment model to facilitate and prevent application downtimes.

I am a regular user of the IBM Cloud, although on a lite account which I use to test and familiarise myself with the IBM Cloud catalogue products like Watson AI, Knowledge Catalog, Cloudant etc., I am more than impressed with what IBM already offers

Many companies have approached me in the past but I didn’t feel confident enough due to my lack of knowledge of the Cloud but by acquiring an IBM certification provided through the IBM Center for Cloud Training program through the training that would be provided, I am very confident that it will add some credibility to my skill set as a professional especially because I am very much interested in being a Site-reliability engineer. It will also ensure a multiplied income which I know everyone loves.
